TinyBear
English words for kids 3 to 7

Your child's first English words, chosen by you.

Type a word. TinyBear finds a picture and says it out loud. Then your child plays four short games with it. A few minutes a day, together at home.

How it works

Three steps, a few minutes a day

1

You type a word

TinyBear finds a picture and says the word in clear English. Or take a photo yourself.

2

Your child plays

Four short word games. A round takes about two minutes, right for little attention spans.

3

Come back tomorrow

Each day TinyBear picks a few new words, plus the ones your child is about to forget.

A word set called Animals: cat, dog, bird, fish, cow and pig, each with a picture and a speaker button
Your words, not ours

Teach the words that matter to your child

Most apps give every child the same list. With TinyBear, you decide. Start with 10 ready sets of first words (100+ words: animals, food, colors, numbers…) and add your own.

This week's school words

Type the list from the teacher. Your child practices exactly what the class is learning.

"My people"

Teach "Grandma", "Dad" and "my dog" with real family photos.

Four short games

Short rounds, big buttons, lots of cheering

The same words, four different ways. Hearing, seeing, matching and spelling all help a word stick.

Spell

Pick the spelling

See the picture, hear the word, tap the right spelling.

Spell game: a pig picture with the choices gip, pgi and pig
Match

Word to picture

Tap a word, then its picture. Matched pairs get a big green tick.

Match game: words cow, bird, horse, dog and bear next to their pictures
Listen

Hear it, tap it

No reading needed. Hear the word and find its picture.

Order

Build the word

Put the letters in order, one by one, with a hint if needed.

Order game: a horse picture and the letters h, o, r placed, with e and s left
Words that stick

A little every day beats a lot once a week

  • Today's practice

A few new words plus the tricky ones that are due, picked for your child. About two minutes.

  • A sticker book that grows

Every word your child gets right becomes a sticker. Right on three different days, it turns gold.

  • Simple progress for you

Words learned, tricky words, and days practiced this week. Plus a gentle evening reminder that names the words.

  • Share a set

Send a word set to a friend or teacher by QR code. They get the words and pictures in seconds.

Results screen: Amazing! You got 5 of 5 words, three stars, and 1 day in a row

Questions

Parents often ask

What age is TinyBear for?

Children from about 3 to 7. Younger children enjoy Listen and Match, which need no reading. Older children move on to Spell and Order.

English isn't my first language. Can I still use it?

Yes. Many parents who use TinyBear are teaching English as a second language. Every word is spoken aloud in clear English, so your child hears the right sound even if you're not sure of it yourself.

Does my child need to read?

No. Every word has a picture and a voice. Listen and Match work for children who can't read yet.

Does it work offline?

Yes, once your words have pictures. Picture search needs the internet; playing the games does not.

Is it really free?

Yes. The free version has no time limit and no ads. TinyBear Plus is a single one-time purchase that removes the limits on your own sets. There is no subscription.

What happens to my photos?

They stay on your phone. They only leave it if you choose to share a set that includes them, and then they are deleted from our storage after 14 days.
